Summary
As the Sisters drove toward Munich, Dorothy articulated her frustration with their role in the war. She told her friend, “We were useless back there and I am sick of it” (320). When they reconvened with the convoy, they set up their Donut Dugout again. Their usual banter with the boys was disrupted when Swede sauntered toward the counter making derisive comments about the Sisters. When he insulted Irene, Dorothy leaped across the counter and began beating his head against the ground. In the following chapter, the Rapid City was pulled over by a group of MPs looking for Dorothy. Swede had reported the incident and there would be an investigation. He warned her not to go AWOL.
