Summary

In Chapter 27, Russel Penny married Holly before the orders came in for the convoy to move to Belgium. Irene received a censored letter from Handyman. In Chapter 28, fall turned into winter and the Rapid City crew struggled to cope with the cold and maintain their levity to support the troops. In the following chapter, the Allied forces continued to push toward the Siegfried Line, avoiding the German troops who were hiding in the forests to the east. While the combat was minimal, troops continued to die from stray bullets and infection. When Dorothy, Irene, and Holly were billeted at the Auberge Bastogne, they were thankful for the running water and warm fire. In Chapter 30, Dorothy and Holly went to Vielsalm to procure Christmas presents while Irene stayed to run the Bastogne Dugout. On December 18th, Irene and the troops were under siege...
