In Chapter 57, with the help of the man at the hotel Daniel finds Susan's address. He drives past her home, but is too afraid to go in. He goes to a nearby hotel to use the bathroom and telephone. He gets a drink at the bar, trying to get up the courage to see Susan. In the bathroom, he talks to an older gentleman who has been married for 68 years. Daniel tips him $100.

In Chapter 58, Susan drives Lois home. Bobby follows them in his car. Lois and Susan get into an argument about Daniel. Susan says she always felt like Lois hated her because half of her came from Daniel. Lois demands to drive with Bobby instead.
