Nick Dunne
Nick Dunne is one of the primary characters of "Gone Girl". Nick is married to Amy Elliott Dunne. As the novel unfolds, Nick and Amy have been married for five years. By trade, Nick is a writer for a magazine. He meets Amy while living in New York City. Nick is originally from Carthage, Missouri. When he loses his job, he and Amy move back to Carthage to help care for his ailing mother.
Nick opens a bar with his twin sister Go. Shortly after returning to Carthage, Nick teaches a journalism class at the local college. He starts an affair with one of his students, Andie. Nick says he has a face that people don't tend to like. When Amy goes missing, his demeanor and his actions help to form public opinion that Nick is responsible for it.
