Nick Dunne: One Day Gone Pages 82-93 Summary

On his way out of the press conference, Gilpin tells Nick they searched the vacant house on their block and another house where squatters were, so they have lab there taking samples. Nick thinks about how the mall used to employ about a fifth of the town, but now many of those workers have been laid off—explaining why there is more of a homeless population than before. One by one, stores in the mall closed, until the entire mall closed. Even Nick's mother lost her job there working at one of the shoe stores.

The detectives take Nick to a room in the police station that has Amy's gift box with the first clue in it. Nick reads the clue and takes them to his office at the college...
