Summary

Chapter 13 – Darrow helps the Augustus family evacuate. Darrow knows the Sovereign is in a difficult situation. She cannot use her power and wealth to wipe out an entire family, or she will face death herself. It was the reigning Sovereign, Darrow explains, who killed her own father and took his throne for doing just that. The Telemanus family quickly allies themselves with the Augustuses, but they must flee Luna. Darrow becomes the de-facto leader, organizing the group of men and women to reach the ship. As they journey, the Jackal realizes that the Sovereign herself must have planned something by refusing to allow family security into the gala.
