Summary

In Chapter 16, Lucas, Rae and Bob are at the townhouse complex which is where Lucas has lured Soto and Kort. A car drives around several times that gets Rae’s attention. She tells Lucas who plans to see whether it is Kort as he would recognize her. Before it comes back, however, a second car that has been circling drives by again. Lucas and Bob get ready, but then a man driving a Mini Cooper parks and gets out of the car. Lucas realizes that the man is Soto. After a chase, they catch him. Kort sees the action and, remembering what Soto had said about talking to the police if he faced the death penalty, drives by and kills Soto. Lucas realizes why she killed him.
