Chapters 46 - 50 Summary
Johnny doesn't wait the mandatory thirty minutes after each blast, and since he is willing to take these risks, he is drilling at least forty-five minutes sooner than Davy would have in the same situation. Davy allows Big King to charge up the blasting holes which also saves time. Johnny and his crew manage to get five blasts off the first day. Rod is getting a good grasp of the surface operations. Secretary Lily Jordan is still with him after her thirty-day probation period passes. Herby Innes, the manager of the Reduction works, wants to see him.
