Summary
In Chapter 4, Louise is gone. Lacey stays with Cherry, on a mattress in her craft room. She finds Louise’s collection of romance novels and reads to connect to her.
Cherry makes Lacey clean fly larvae and feed her. Cherry calls out every day for her cat Goldie, who has been dead for five years.
Cherry and Lacey May drive to Louise’s apartment in the hearse which carried grampa Jackie, which she stole the day of his funeral. Pearl, Louise’s sister, her husband and son, Lyle, join them to clear Louise’s things. Lyle tells Lacey he will begin giving her Bible lessons because they are family. Lyle finds Louise’s beloved yellow bikini and gives it to Lacey.
In Chapter 5, Officer Geary, Peaches’ sheriff, visits to get Cherry to sign paperwork to become Lacey’s guardian. Lacey says Louise is coming...
