Summary

In Chapter 6, Ijeoma snuck out of the compound with her basket of rice and into the Evil Forest. There were 16 paths through the forest, and she did not know which one to take. She was afraid. She searched endlessly for Jekwu. She used the four holy stones for guidance, yet still could not find the baby. Her feet were cut and she was tired and scared. She prayed for Chukwu to “let [her] fly again” so she could find Jekwu (60). Finally, on the last path, she thought she was hallucinating when she heard a cry. She found Jekwu in a tree. She took him down and gave him the rice, but he was not eating. She heard Chukwu tell her to give him fruit from the orange trees.
