Summary

Chapter 87: "In Which Rachel Paints her Face" opens as Ian asks Rachel to come meet Emily. While she is happy, she recognizes that she hopes to impress Emily and lets Catherine paint her face to celebrate the meeting. They meet Emily at her farmhouse and Rachel notices that Emily does not quite meet her gaze. After meeting the children, Emily invites Ian to her longhouse where they ask if they still know each other. Soon, Emily admits that the man she is with - John Whitewater- is convinced that Emily's son, Tótis, will kill him because of a dream. She, however, has dreamed that Whitewater kills Tots and prayed for help. Ian agrees to take Tótis with him, even if he is not sure what Rachel will say.
