Chapter 9 Summary
Eve immediately demands answers about Roarke's relationship with Yvonne. He tells her that it was nothing more than an intimate friendship. She tells him she can't disqualify him as a suspect unless he helps her. When she tries to leave, all resolve crumbles, and she tells him she can't live without him. As she cries, she pulls the diamond he gave her out from under her shirt, shouting at him that she has been wearing it all along. Holding her, he listens in thrilled disbelief. Eve tells him that she loves him.
Later that afternoon, Eve checks her messages and returns a call to Mirina Angelini. Mirina tells her she needs to speak with her regarding the investigation, and asks her to come to Rome. Roarke tells her he will arrange a flight for her and go along.
