Jidada
Fundamentally, Glory is an allegorical novel that explores the history of Zimbabwe through the lens of the fictional country of Jidada. The entirety of the narratives takes place within the country; like Zimbabwe, Jidada is impossible to neatly categorize. Its citizens are diverse—across a range of ethnic, racial, and religious axes—and its many cultures and traditions are strong, vibrant, and complex. Throughout the novel, poverty, unemployment, and relative squalor suffuse Jidada. Its political elites, meanwhile, enjoy lavish and glamorous lifestyles. Ultimately, the need for freedom, independence, and democracy unites the citizens of Jidada. They put aside their many differences and disagreements in order to exert control over the fate of their shared country.
