Summary

Not long after she takes Edward to the doctor, Novak gets a call from Cecily, who invites Novak over to her house. Novak is hesitant but ultimately ends up agreeing to go. When she arrives, she finds Cecily drunk and wrought up about her friend Tabitha, who has gotten pregnant and decided to marry a man and move away. Cecily also informs her that Felix and Kent have begun to date, which hurts Novak, who feels kept out of the loop. She grows increasingly cagey with Cecily when it begins to seem to Novak that Cecily has willingly abandoned a healthy relationship with her parents simply because they are not the most interesting people in the world. Eventually, Cecily falls asleep. Before Novak leaves the apartment, she peeks at Cecily’s driver’s license and writes down her parents’ address.
