Summary
In Chapter 33, Lacoste dressed in assault gear and snuck back into the village to enter the bistro through Myrna’s bookstore. She had gotten a message that the drugs had left the church and were headed toward the village.
Meanwhile, two men carrying packing crates walked into the bistro. They carried the crates, which had drips of red on them, to the Americans. Lacoste watched from her spot and wondered if Anton knew this was more than just a friendly meeting. It was a hostile takeover with his couriers killed. Just as she noticed a strange look on Anton’s face, Lacoste felt a gun pressed against her head.
Gamache saw Marchand push Lacoste through the door. Believing she had nothing to lose, Lacoste pushed backward just as Gamache jumped at the man with a knife. They all landed on top of Anton...
