Summary

In Chapter 28, Isabel joined the Gamaches in the loft of Myrna’s bookstore while Beauvoir went to check on the casserole Gamache had ordered for dinner. Lacoste mentioned she had learned from Ruth the church had been used for running rum during the Prohibition. Lacoste asked Myrna to talk about the relationship between Katie and the others. Myrna said that she felt all of the friends did blame Katie for Edouard’s death because she had broken up with him just before he died. The friends also blamed the man who had sold Edouard the drugs for his death. Gamache felt there was something that had happened long ago that had made someone kill Katie, that her death was not connected with the cobrador at all.
