The Lake

The lake is a symbol of Dex and Lacey's relationship, which is deep and emotional. It is the place where they go the first time they hang out together. It is the place where they go when Lacey's stepfather beats her mother. It is the place they go to reconcile after Lacey gets back from Horizons.

Nikki's Pool

Nikki's pool is a symbol of her and Dex's relationship. Nikki and Dex float on its surface all summer long. Unlike the lake, the pool is shallow and man-made, as is their relationship.
