Chapter 4 Summary
Carmen is at home, and going into her mother's bedroom, she somehow feels it is different than it used to be. Her mother has recently married a man whom Carmen only met the year before, so now it is a woman and a man's bedroom. Carmen is there to "borrow" her mother's false eyelashes. She feels more of a stranger here than she has for the last few years when it belonged only to her mother. She goes into the bathroom to look for the eyelashes, and in the process, she knocks a bottle containing her mother's vitamins into the toilet. Fishing them out and cleaning them, Carmen realizes that the vitamins are prenatal vitamins.
Tibby wakes up the morning after the dance and feels like she has a hangover. She hasn't had any alcohol, so she realizes it is from her experience...
