Chapter 3 Summary

Tibby's younger sister calls out loudly that Brian has come to pick her up. He arrives with flowers for Tibby and chocolates for the rest of the family. He is wearing a suit coat and tie, while Tibby has on jeans, or rather, the Pants, and a filmy blouse that shows to best advantage what little cleavage she has.

Brian has grown up from a neighborhood friend who was kind of ugly and awkward to a handsome young man of eighteen who girls secretly admire. Since he has no car, he walks to Tibby's house, and she drives them in her car. She notices that they like each other in a different way than they used to when they were younger.
