Summary

Section 5 is titled Savitha. Chapter 1 finds Savitha on a bus. When she gets to her stop, she asks if she is in New York, but she is only in Spokane. She thinks about how far she has to go and how limited her funds are, thinking her first bus ticket would get her farther. She thinks of Mohan. She starts walking and comes to the edge of a river. As the day goes on, more people arrive at the river. She sees an elderly couple with a car with New York license plates. Savitha asks in her limited English if they are going to New York.
