Chapters 7-8 Summary
Skye comes home in Chapter 7 to find her mother almost overdosed on prescription pills. She's not sure what she took, but works to put her to bed. As she does so, she has a fantasy about being informed by a police officer that her mother is dead. Skye briefly chats with her father, but doesn't talk about the seriousness of her mother's condition. Later, Skye discovers that her mother has been drinking a six-pack of beer each night along with her anti-depressants. When Anna wakes in the morning, she doesn't remember anything, and they don't talk about the incident. Skye sees that Anna has left her a variety of New Age pamphlets, which she throws away, an act for which she is later reprimanded.
