Summary
In Chapter Twelve, Curt and Kim continue to be physical together, but they never start to date. Curt asks Kim why she does not love him, and she tells him that she is “only in love with your body” (244). Curt is often arrogant, and says exasperating things like “life in suburbs is hell on earth” (252). However, he is often nice to Kim and gives her his sculptures as gifts.
Kim has her heart set on attending Yale, and the Harrison Prep college counselor thinks she can get accepted. Nevertheless, she worries because she did not have any extracurricular activities on her resume like the other kids did. Kim must take a U.S. citizenship test soon after she turns 18 so she can qualify for financial aid. Because of the test, she misses a play in which Annette is playing the lead. On the day...
