The Carousel
The carousel is where Ivan finds Lucinda’s corpse. It is also where Jade spent time with Zap when they were younger. It is significant in that it is the scene of the crime that provides the basis for the narrative’s plot. It is also significant symbolically as the carousel is normally a place of innocence. Lucinda’s death shatters the world of innocence of the town and the characters. The carousel also symbolizes the cyclical nature of life and the opportunities people have to change and grow. Lucinda’s death is the impetus that causes the main characters in the narrative to grow.
Jefferson High School
