Summary
At work the next day, Riley looks awful. Charlie catches him sneaking a beer but does not say anything. After work, Charlie finds the area shelter where she gets some supplies. She has realized the money she is making will only go so far toward rent and utilities. After dark, she goes to the alley behind the grocery store and gets discarded produce from the trash cans. As she is finishing and leaving, she sees Riley watching her. She calls out to him, but he does not answer. The next day, he gives her a brown bag of food when she finishes work. He tells her he does not want to see her digging in trash cans again.
The next day after work, Charlie visits the more impoverished side of town. There is a room for rent in an apartment building that...
