Summary
On Saturday, January 8th, Ginny wakes up and yawns “like Chewbacca” (227). When Ginny goes downstairs for breakfast, she finds zero grapes instead of nine beside her glass of milk. She calls out for some grapes, but after no response, Ginny finds her Forever Mom in the living room “pushing on” her Forever Dad’s chest (228). He is lying unresponsive on the floor. Ginny wants her nine grapes. Her Forever Mom ignores Ginny’s requests, fumbles with her phone, and leaves to put Baby Wendy down. Ginny wants her grapes, but her Forever Dad “isn’t getting up to get them,” and Ginny is “not allowed to open the refrigerator without permission” (228). An ambulance and her grandparents arrive. Two men take her Forever Dad away. Ginny is “surprised and confused” (229). Ginny asks Grammy for “exactly” nine grapes (230).
