Summary

In Chapter 10, Fegan watched as Caffola organized the boys and young men who had started the riot, ordering them to fetch bricks and bottles to throw at the policemen and petrol to create Molotov cocktails. The policemen began to realize that this altercation would not blow over quickly and began to strap on riot gear. The press showed up as bricks began to fly through the air. Caffola assured Fegan that the violence would not get out of hand: “It’s not the Eighties anymore” (73). Fegan watched Caffola do battle against the police and knew that it would be Caffola’s last night on earth. Fegan watched the police, and knew that they would charge the mob soon.
