The entirety of Ghosts is set in London during the twenty first century, The author chooses to restrict the novel’s setting to one city in order to further her thematic delve into aging. When Nina returns to Albyn Park, the square where she grew up, she is able to remember the feelings of safety and comfort from her childhood. Similarly, when Katherine moves to Surrey, a suburb of London, the train rides between the city’s neighborhoods illustrates the distances in their friendship.
