Summary
In Chapter 17, the narrator met up with Lola and Jethro. She watched the couple interact and could see her friend was “in love with being in love” (286). Later, she told Nina that they were planning on buying an apartment together. When Nina suggested that living together in a rental may be more prudent, Lola argued that she was finally in a relationship, she did not want to wait any longer to build a life with someone. Nina had not heard from Max since they returned from their trip. She texted him to say that he was disappearing again; he had promised not to disappear.
