Summary
In Chapter 11, Nina reluctantly attended Lucy’s hen do. She and Lola were the only single women invited; Nina because she was an usher and Lola because one of Lucy’s closer friends could not attend. When they arrived for the weekend stay at a rented cottage, the maid of honor, Franny, greeted them. The narrator admired Lucy’s ability to “throw herself into any uncomfortable situation with enthusiasm” (172). Franny oversaw the organized frivolity with gusto and a marketed disdain for questions. During the knickers game, Nina excused herself and lay on the bed in her room. When Lola returned to the room, she continued to lament that her latest sexual intrigue, from Linx, was perpetually on a messaging app. She was convinced that he spent his time talking to other women and compulsively stared at her screen...
