Summary
Chapter Twenty-One: This chapter is a letter from Sarah to Eddie. Sarah picks up her life story where she left off. She stayed in L.A. for a few months more, living with Tommy’s family. She took a job cleaning houses for friends of Tommy’s mother.
One day the daughter of a woman she ran errands for broke her arm. Sarah accompanied her to the hospital. She left the hospital to go to a joke shop to buy the child a gift and met a clown coming out of a children’s birthday party. Sarah talked him into going to the hospital with her. He was successful in calming the child, so her arm could be set. The clown was Reuben and they began dating.
Reuben went back to the hospital with Sarah when it was time for the child...
