Summary
Chapter 8 is set in “Present Day” (73). Aubrey has spent days doing research. She had initially worried about touching anything related to the case, but she has had no connection to Missy at all. Aubrey knows that a connection with Missy could be upsetting or dangerous, and that she might experience all the emotions Missy felt at her death. Aubrey's thoughts drift to her marriage to Owen Kennedy. Their divorce is nearing finality but Aubrey has not yet signed the papers. They were both to blame for the failure, but Aubrey knows she takes the larger share of blame because she kept her psychic ability from Owen.
