Summary
In Chapter 4, Aubrey takes time to find the realtor, Alana Powell, to hand over the annuity before returning to the office. Aubrey hoped that Levi would have already left the newspaper, and she is disappointed that he has not. She finds he has established himself in an empty office. As she nears, she feels a spirit and firmly shuts it out. She smells salt water and has to work harder to shut out the vision. A glimpse of Levi's watch prompts the echo of a voice. Levi wants to go to the morgue, and Aubrey knows the receptionist well. Aubrey dreads the ghostly encounters she might experience, but she knows that she cannot even begin to explain why she cannot go.
