Summary
In “Acting is Just Pretend,” George left house and went to Kelly’s house. George lived with her mom and her brother because her father had remarried and moved to the Pocono Mountains with his new wife. George only saw him once a year during the summer. Kelly lived with just her father, Paul, who was a musician. Their small apartment was full of sheet music and completely unorganized. Kelly’s room, however, was immaculate and completely organized. Paul told George he thought it was cool that she was trying out for Charlotte. Kelly told George there was a long history of boys playing girls in traditional theater. George tried to explain that it was more than just pretend to her, but she could not find the words.
