Hunter S. Thompson
Although Thompson is the author of the book he is also the subject of many of his own stories. At the time these articles are written, Thompson is approximately fifty years old and resides in Woody Creek, Colorado. Thompson is deeply interested in politics, and his personal political beliefs are deeply left-wing, which shows through in his vicious attacks on Republicans. However, Thompson is far from a Democratic partisan, as he routinely attacks Democratic politicians like Gary Hart for being a foolish sex addict and Ted Kennedy for being a drunk and a terrible driver. Furthermore, Thompson is an avid gun and explosive enthusiast, which puts him outside the mainstream of the Democratic Party. At one point in the book, Thompson covers a red fox with peacock dung and feathers and liquid glue and then shoots it with buckshot, leaving it to be devoured by hawks...
