Summary

This part includes the chapters “Top Surgery,” “My Body is a Spaceship,” “Messages to Lynn,” “How to Be a Transgender Country Singer,” “Invested,” and “YouTube Gender.” The picture before the first chapter starts is Ivan at the mic. “Top Surgery” is told from Ivan’s perspective as they go in for surgery. The doctor takes the sharpie again and marks up Ivan’s body. Ivan feels he does this a little too arbitrarily, and wonders if there are tools more sophisticated than a sharpie to change their body and identity forever. They interject the chapter with a note from a week later that the sharpie marks are still there, but turning colors. Ivan goes in for surgery and four hours later their breasts are gone.
