Section 3: Definitional Chaos Summary
The narrator is excited when ConCom sends him on a mission to deliver $48,000 to a hotel booked for a convention before they lose their spot, knowing they chose him because of his collection of guns and his consistent alignment, but he is furious when he learns that Lexia Tollman, his ex-girlfriend who killed Temptress Moon, his avatar on Mayhem, will be accompanying him. On the train, Lexia bickers with the narrator because she wants to count the money, but he does not trust her. She insults his tepid alignment, leading to the resumption of their old argument about whether each of them are chaotic good or neutral. The narrator refuses Lexia's offer to share her vodka, but when he finally gives in and drinks after her, he begins to feel dizzy; Lexia admits that she drugged both of them...
