Maester Luwin tries to persuade Catelyn to leave Bran's bedside and attend to business left undone upon Eddard's departure. Robb tells Luwin he will make those decisions. Outside, the direwolves are howling and Robb notices a fire in the library. As Robb runs off with the guards to fight the blaze, an assassin enters Bran's room. Catelyn tries to prevent him from killing Bran, but suffers injuries to her hands. Bran's direwolf saves both Catelyn and Bran, killing the assassin. Catelyn knows someone sent the assassin to kill Bran because they feared what he might say if he awoke.
