Summary

In Chapter 37, Rielle and the chavaile flew back home. Rielle confronted Ludivine’s father, Dervin, and he admitted to trying to kill her. Rielle nearly killed him in the street, spurred on by Corian, but Audric convinced her not to.

In Chapter 38, the wraith introduced herself as Zahra. She had been an angel, but she had decided not to return to a body after the wall had fallen and the angels had escaped. She told Eliana that she worked for the Red Crown and the Prophet, and she was going to bring her back home to Cordalia. Eliana was confused, so Zahra showed her a vision of Queen Rielle and Corian, who Eliana recognized as the Emperor. Zahra told her that Queen Rielle was her real mother, but could not explain the years between them.
