Summary
In the prologue, a young boy named Simon hid in the closet as Queen Rielle of Celdaria gave birth to a daughter. Simon hated the queen because she had killed her husband, King Audric, on the battlefield after she had allied with the Angels and conspired to kill thousands of humans. Simon came out of the closet and approached the queen’s bed, then saw her newborn daughter who his father had helped deliver. Suddenly, his father fell to the floor as an angel, Corien, entered his head and read his mind. His father said that Corien had discovered that he was a mixed-blood angel and human, as was Simon. Simon’s father panicked and then threw himself out of the window before Corien could realize Simon was there, too. The queen tried to comfort Simon, but he yelled and told her...
