Summary
In Chapter 19, Camila thought about "Diego's words and promises" (206). She felt the power they had over one another. She knew she could leave Rosario to be with him, but was unsure what to do. An interaction with her mother the next morning left Camila feeling "guilty for being alive" (209). At school, Camila was distracted by thoughts of Diego, "the tournament and graduation" (210). On her way to work, Camila was shocked to see her father out with a much younger woman.
In Chapter 20, Camila was glad to see Karen. She felt connected to her. They talked about books and reading. Afterwards, Camila found Diego waiting for her. They struggled to say goodbye. Then he gave her parting gifts, including an iPhone. He wanted their relationship to work long distance. Camila could hear her grandmothers' ghosts reprimanding her.. She "pushed their advice" away (221).
