Summary

Chapter Sixteen finds Logan and Jessup on the road, discussing Saul Woden. Jessup goes into Woden's history; he grew up in a horribly abusive family who lived in the Catskills. His father left when he was seven and his mother kicked him out of the house after he hit puberty. Woden then lived in the woods until he was 20, when he murdered two people with an ax during a full moon. When he was caught he did not resist but was raving about the voice in his head. He was found to be a paranoid schizophrenic and the state committed him to an institution. Woden was paroled about a year prior and moved into the wilderness about six months ago.
