Point of View
Throughout the anthology, perspectives shift often to suit the content of each story. Third, second, and first person is employed in both present and past tense. “Throttle,” “Wolverton Station,” “By the Silver Water of Lake Champlain,” and “Thumbprint” employ third-person narration limited to one person, the main character of each story, in the past tense. “Faun” and “In the Tall Grass” employ third-person narration limited to more than one character in the past tense. “All I Care About Is You” and “You Are Released” employ the third-person narration limited to more than one character in the present, and “Mums” is narrated in the third-person limited to Jack alone in the present tense.
