Wilfred
A character in "1922," Wilfred is a farmer who has lived his whole life on a farm in Nebraska. He loves the land and feels connected to it in a deep way. He is married to Arlette for over a decade when he decides to murder her in order to prevent her from selling land she inherited from her father and moving to Omaha on her own.
Wilfred is exceptionally clever and manipulative. He talks his son into helping him murder Arlette by convincing him that city life would be terrible, reminding him that he would have to leave his girlfriend, Shannon, and by convincing him that Arlette would only sin in Omaha, which would send her to Hell.
