Summary
Tess had written 12 books in a series called The Willow Grove Knitting Society. She made a good living, but she took twelve compensated speaking engagements a year in order to fund her retirement savings. She did not like to fly, and disliked staying in motels, plus her cat, Fritzy, hated being left alone, so she only spoke at events she could drive to with just a single overnight stay in a motel. She loved to drive more than anything else in the world.
Books and Brown Baggers invited her to come speak in Chicopee, and she agreed since it was just sixty miles away from Stoke Village, Connecticut, where she lived, even though she already had a different engagement planned for October.
