Summary

In Chapter 7 of the ‘Motherhood’ section, “Wrong Mother,” Ree describes her relationship with her daughter, Paige. As a baby, Paige was the most physically dependent on Ree out of all of Ree’s children; Paige also suffered from separation anxiety whenever Ree had to leave her. However, Paige grew up to be fiercely independent, confident, and headstrong. Ree describes four ways she feels she fell short as a mother for Paige, given her personality – she never had crafting supplied stocked at home like many of the other mothers; she was often late to things, which made Paige anxious as she liked to be on schedule and preferably early; she dressed in floral shirts, jeans, and earrings instead of shorts and t-shirts like the other mothers; and while Paige wanted to fit as many events as possible onto their itinerary whenever they went...
