Summary
Tembi and Zoela land in Sicily with Saro's ashes in the overhead bin. Saro has been gone for four months and Tembi and Zoela are going to spend a month living with his mother, whom they call Nonna, in his childhood home in the small rural town of Aliminusa. Tembi and Zoela are both in the throes of grief, and Tembi recognizes that she and Nonna need time to get to know each other and grieve together (Saro's father had already passed away before Saro). Tembi and Zoela meet Saro's sister, Franca, and her husband, Cosimo, who drive them to Aliminusa. In the small town, they are met by the locals, including many of Saro's extended family members and former neighbors. Nonna gives them a warm and loving welcome before asking to see her...
