Chapters 8-10 Summary

Tatiana Romanova is a Corporal of State Security living in a women's barracks in Moscow. Tatiana is a beautiful girl who has a strong sense of patriotism, not only working for the government because it is a good job but because she believes in what she is doing. Tatiana has just finished up her dinner when her boss calls her and tells her that she needs to meet with Rosa Klebb in ten minutes at her apartment upstairs. Tatiana tries to ask why, but her boss hangs up quickly, most likely because he is aware of the fact that all calls in and out at the barracks are recorded. Tatiana is suddenly frightened because she believes she might have done something wrong, even though she can think of nothing she has done, and is about to be punished.
