Summary
Chapter 19, “The Good Wizard’s Predecessor Takes an Interest,” begins as the Good Wizard, Bert, Anya, Denholm, Shrub, Smoothie, and Ardent leave through the tunnel that is also the tail of the dragon. When they open the door they see an old man sitting on a bench, and the Good Wizard introduces him as her predecessor, also known as Snow White. Ardent asks if his real name is Merlin and he says yes, but he has had other names as well. Bert hears something in the grass and prepares to shoot an arrow, but Merlin stops her saying it is a bird who wants to talk to the Good Wizard. At the same time, the magic flying carpet arrives, as well as the bag of onions for Anya. Anya realizes the bird is Gotfried. Anya picks him up, and Gotfried says he...
