Lincoln Elementary School

Nick attends Lincoln Elementary School. He is in fourth grade as the novel opens but the majority of events take place when he is fifth grade. The author does not describe any of the rooms in detail and the reader is left to assume it is simply a normal school. There are a few details about Mrs. Granger's room, identified as Room 12, including that there are 30 dictionaries at the back of the class, there is a stool at the back of the class where Mrs. Granger sits while Nick gives his dictionary report, and an unabridged dictionary is on an altar.
