Chapters 9-14 Summary
In Chapter 9, Ian and Marjorie arrive in Winnipeg. Ian introduces Marjorie to his wife Janet. Marjorie wonders why Ian would bother trying to pick her up when he has such a beautiful life at home. Marjorie also meets Georges, Janet's other husband. The group leaves Winnipeg and goes to a compound in Stonewall. Marjorie is enthralled by the house and its beauty. Janet admits to being the compound's architect. Ian is the resident gadget master and Georges is an artist in many ways. Janet gives Marjorie a tour of the house. Meanwhile she explains that they are all married. The men joke that one man is not enough to handle Janet. Shortly after arriving in Stonewall there is a chilling message on the television: "Our border with the Chicago Imperium has been sealed off and refugees are being rounded up. The...
